Ryan C. Berry is an accomplished trial lawyer recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers. Before joining Ward & Berry, Mr. Berry was a Shareholder in an AmLaw Top 15 firm. He has successfully handled significant cases for clients in the national security, technology, and sports and entertainment sectors, as well as high net worth individuals.
In addition to his active litigation practice, Mr. Berry is also a Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP). He assists companies in developing and improving their compliance and ethics programs, conducts internal investigations, and provides periodic training to clients on critical compliance topics, such as mandatory reporting requirements, code of conduct, responding to government investigations, and whistleblower protection.
Mr. Berry is experienced in handling international disputes and investigations for government contractors and multi-national corporations. His work in this area has been particularly focused on the False Claims Act (FCA), the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and personal injury claims brought by foreign citizens against U.S. contractors. Mr. Berry has skillfully guided clients through investigations brought by the Inspector General (IG) of federal agencies, Congressional investigations, suspensions and proposed debarments.
Mr. Berry is particularly passionate about eradicating human trafficking in all of its forms. His extensive work helping corporations ensure that their supply chains remain free of forced labor is among the most rewarding of his career. Mr. Berry is a recognized thought leader on using strategic litigation to end the scourge of human trafficking. He speaks at conferences periodically to increase public awareness and rally support for ensuring that the human dignity of all workers is recognized, respected, and protected.
Mr. Berry graduated from the Washington & Lee University School of Law, where he was Editor in Chief of the Environmental Law Digest. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Berry was a management consultant for the Department of Defense, and earlier served as an active duty military officer. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy, where he competed on Army’s NCAA Rifle squad.
