Ward & Berry PLLC (wardberry.com), a boutique law firm has a full-time, in-office position opening for a Legal Assistant in our Tysons, Virginia office.

Requirements: 

  • A friendly, self-motivated, highly organized person who is a service-oriented team player with superior written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to support the litigation, client development/marketing, and office management operations of the firm.
  • Proficiency with Office365 products (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Work in our Tysons office from 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM with a half-hour lunch break.
  • Ability to present himself or herself professionally.
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality and handling highly sensitive information.
  • Commitment to providing consistently excellent client service and attorney support.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: 

  • Support litigation practice:
  • Drafting and editing of letters, memos, forms, and legal documents.
  • Drafting and editing of pleadings for attorney review.
  • Review and schedule docket dates.
  • Research legal issues and review case files as directed for factual development.
  • Aid in development of documentary evidence and preparation of trial exhibits.
  • Prepare and file documents with courts and federal agencies.
  • Maintain case files, review, and save email correspondence.
  • Physical and electronic file management.
  • Complete event and speaker registrations for attorneys.
  • Arrange travel in accordance with attorney preferences and membership programs.
  • Operation of firm timekeeping and billing software (Clio).
  • Support client development/marketing operation (which may occur outside of regular office hours):
  • Communicate clearly with outside vendors.
    • Support of monthly firm events, to include:
      • Reserve event space and maintain guest lists.
      • Inventory supplies, order food and supplies.
      • Set up, serve, and breakdown event.
      • Wash dishes and restock supplies.
    • Hospitality services, including setting up and cleaning up conference rooms, maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen, restocking snacks, and drinks, placing lunch orders, greeting clients, and loading/unloading dishwasher.
    • Support office management:
    • Answer and screen incoming phone calls during business hours.
    • Open and sort mail.
    • Maintain attorney and firm memberships and bar records.
    • Coordinate interviews with potential employees.
    • Coordinate client file transfers.
    • Submit maintenance requests to building management.
